Just four months after rolling out voice waveforms while recording voice notes to select beta testers, WhatsApp is now rolling out voice waveforms for chat bubbles on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS.
6 months ago, Wabetainfo announced that WhatsApp was working on a new experience while playing voice notes, thanks to a new interface that shows the voice waveforms in your chat bubbles.

In reality, WhatsApp has already enabled this layout in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.21.13.17 version, but it was temporary and the feature has now been disabled after a new update.

Now, from the looks of it, the messaging giant is finally releasing the new layout to select WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS testers today.
Specific beta testers can now see the voice waveforms in chat bubbles, but not always. You will see voice waveforms for your voice notes only if the feature is enabled for your account, but voice waveforms may still not show up when receiving a voice note from someone that has the feature disabled or when the voice note has been recorded using an old version of WhatsApp.
The new layout is rolling out to select beta testers on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS, and more activations are planned after releasing new updates.
